Start on the class you want to add students to
First, you will need to have created a class. If you don't know how to do that, read this article.
Enter the class you want to edit by clicking on it from your Manage Classes tab.
Import from Google Classroom
When you are viewing a class, it will show you the three options for adding students to a class. Select "Google Import," as in the screenshot below.
Click the "Import" button.
The first time you import from Google Classroom, you’ll have to grant Tyto Online access to your data on Google Classroom. After clicking “Authorize Access,” you’ll be prompted to authorize access. Immersed Games does not have access to your Google username or password, as this is processed only through Google.
Once you have Authorized Access to Import students, a pop-up will show you a list of all your Google Courses. Choose the one you wish to import students from by selecting "Import Students." The students from that Google Classroom will be immediately added to the Tyto Online Class you are editing.
When students are imported, they will have Tyto Online accounts created under their organization emails imported from Google. Passwords for these accounts will be automatically generated.
The Teacher Dashboard will show you these passwords once after you import from Google, and also email copies of the login information with instructions to your students. Please note that some school domains will not allow students to receive email from outside domains like ours, so you will need to save their passwords and distribute them to students manually if this is the case.
Students Logging In
Students will be emailed their log-in information and instructions on downloading Tyto Online to get started. When your students log in, they will use their school email and the password they were given on the login form in the game:
Resetting Passwords
Since your students have email addresses associated with their accounts, they will be able to reset their own passwords if they forget them or are having trouble typing the auto-generated one. They will do this by selecting "unable to login?" on any login screen and following the instructions to reset their passwords.
Read more about resetting students' passwords in this Knowledgebase article.
Please note that if your district does not allow students to receive email from outside domains like ours, you will need to reset their passwords yourself (this is covered in the above article).
